The secondary nozzle occupies the port behind the main stream and directs water into the inner coverage zone — the area between the riser and the main stream's landing radius — which the primary nozzle alone does not reach. Selecting the right secondary nozzle size allows irrigation managers to balance close-in and far-field application rates for uniform coverage across the full wetted area.
